POSITION SUMMARY:
The Development Officer at Boys & Girls Clubs of Central Florida (BGCCF) plays a key role in driving fundraising efforts to support our mission. Reporting to the Chief Development Officer, this position is responsible for building and nurturing relationships with individual donors, corporate partners, and community leaders to secure essential funding.
The ideal candidate is a strategic thinker with high energy who possesses a deep understanding of and passion for BGCCF's mission. They must be capable of developing and executing a comprehensive development plan to achieve revenue goals while articulating the organization's impact to diverse audiences. This role involves identifying, cultivating, and stewarding a portfolio of donors and prospects, focusing on increasing both the number of donors and the size of gifts. The Development Officer will also enhance board member engagement, ensure consistent, impactful fundraising practices across the organization, and play a key role in strategic board development to support fundraising initiatives.
ESSENTIAL JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:
Board Development: Effectively manage and develop area board for effectiveness and performance within assigned county. Responsible for board development activities, including identification, recruitment, orientation, involvement, evaluation, and recognition.
Donor Relationship Advancement: Identify and cultivate a portfolio of current and potential donor prospects. Cultivate relationships with donors through board member introductions, engagement in operational programming, one-on-one meetings, etc. Provide opportunity for donors to receive recognition through existing national programs as well as local initiatives. Steward existing donors through frequent communication and relationship building to encourage increased future giving. Utilize current donor relationships to orchestrate strategic major gift asks from donors. Successfully meet an annual fundraising goal set on a yearly basis.
Event Implementation: Execute existing fundraising strategy in assigned county through approved events and donor solicitation calls to include supporting Galas, Youth of the Year Luncheons, Faces of our Future Events and other fundraising events approved for assigned area.
Organizational Advocacy: Meet with individual donors, corporations, foundations, and community leaders, to share the Boys & Girls Clubs message and articulate the need for funding support. Actively represent the organization in assigned region to include speaking engagements, attendance at community events and membership in appropriate organizations.
Database Utilization: Keep up to date records on all interactions with donors noting anything significant in the constituent's account. Track meetings, phone calls and overall progression of donor relationships. Utilize reports and dashboards within Raiser's Edge platform to track performance and plan next steps.
Operational Engagement: Engage in the operational programming at Boys & Girls Club(s) in your assigned region. Meet regularly with operational staff to discuss programs, initiatives, Club tours, donor drop-ins, field trips, etc. Implement strategies to engage donors in the work being done in the Club.
QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS (Knowledge, Education, Experience & Skills)
- A bachelor's degree in non-profit management or business or a combination of education and relevant experience in a similar role is preferred.
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in the nonprofit sector.
- Strongly prefer a candidate residing in county where position is located with knowledge of the donor base in that region.
- Documented history of successful fundraising and Board development. Experience in managing and tracking multiple prospects and donors.
- Knowledge of current trends in charitable giving, particularly in the areas of major gifts, capital campaigns, and planned giving.
- Experience with the Benevon Model and event management preferred.
- Ability to conceptualize the agency philosophy and communicate the concept to others passionately and with desired results. Ability to motivate and inspire others to believe in the organization's mission.
- Excellent written and verbal skills and the ability to facilitate large and small group presentations.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office suites and knowledge of donor management databases. Salesforce experience preferred.
- Excellent organizational and analytical skills and the ability to multi-task and meet aggressive deadlines.
- Ability to travel in assigned geographic areas and attend functions with flexible hours.

Relationships
- Internal: Maintains regular contact with the Development Team, board members, and operational staff to align fundraising efforts with organizational goals, share donor insights, and collaborate on program initiatives. Engages with Club staff to gain an in-depth understanding of programs and impact on effective donor communication.
- External: Builds and nurtures relationships with individual donors, corporate partners, foundations, and community leaders to secure funding and support. Represents BGCCF at community events, speaking engagements, and fundraising activities. Manages a portfolio of donors and prospects, focusing on cultivating relationships, stewardship, and strategic major gift solicitations. Executes fundraising events such as Galas, Youth of the Year Luncheon, and Faces of Our Future Events. Actively engages in board development activities, including identification, recruitment, and orientation of new board members.

ENVIRONMENTAL AND WORKING CONDITIONS:
- The position requires working in both indoor and outdoor environments of an office or club setting, which may involve exposure to varying weather conditions.
- Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating instructions, and policy manuals.
- Must have a valid driver's license and valid auto insurance. Required to operate a motor vehicle.
- Work in environments frequented by children and families, requiring adherence to safety and conduct standards that ensure a child-friendly and family-oriented atmosphere.
- Must be adaptable to a dynamic work schedule, including evenings to support club activities and events.
PHYSICAL AND MENTAL REQUIREMENTS:
- Physically capable of performing programming activities and duties on-site, including lifting up to 50 pounds, standing, sitting, or walking for extended periods, bending, and reaching. Use your hands to handle, feel, and reach with hands and arms.
- Operates a computer and other office productivity equipment such as a copy machine, phone, printer, laptop and tablet frequently. Requires the ability to work on a computer for extended periods (8+ hours), including performing tasks that involve repetitive motion, visual focus, and fine motor skills
- Visual and auditory acuity to monitor the environment and ensure safety standards are maintained.
- Mental resilience and the ability to stay focused and effective in a busy, sometimes noisy environment.
