Hours: Monday - Friday; up to to 10 hours per week between the hours of 2:00 p.m. and 7:00 p.m.

PRIMARY FUNCTION:

The College & Career Access Coordinator will be responsible for creating and leading programs designed for identified teens that focus on college preparation.  Additionally, the College & Career Access Coordinator will track the progress that each teen is making towards on-time high school graduation and post-high school plans. 

KEY ROLES (Essential Job Responsibilities): 

  1. Closely monitor the academic performance of participants in the College Readiness program to include, but not limited to, regular meetings with participants and evaluating academic records such as report cards, setting of goals & monitoring goal attainment with emphasis on high school graduation requirements and post-secondary plans.
  2. Maintain files for each participant.
  3. Conduct programs in the areas of Education & Career Development and Character & Leadership Development. 
  4. Provide opportunities for members to participate in skill-building activities (ex: SAT/ACT prep, Accuplacer, personal brand, leadership, volunteering, goal setting, etc.) 
  5. Conduct annual off-site college and career-related experiences including college visits and employer field trips. 
  6. Work closely with freshman, sophomores and juniors to guide them through the steps needed for high school graduation and post -secondary plans. 
  7. Invite the College & Career Access Consultant (CCAC) a few times per year to meet the underclassmen to ensure a relationship is built for senior year. 
  8. Work closely with the College & Career Access Consultant (CCAC) to ensure ongoing support for seniors. 
  9. Support CCAC with financial aid process. 

RELATIONSHIPS:

Internal:  Maintains close, daily contact with Service and Teen Directors to interpret and explain program objectives and standards, discuss issues, and provide/receive information.  Maintains contact via phone and in-person with targeted Club members weekly. Maintain ongoing communication with College & Career Readiness Consultant.

External:  Maintains contact with parents and local community agencies as needed.  

SKILLS/KNOWLEDGE REQUIRED:

  • A minimum of one year experience working in a structured educational or youth development program.
  • Knowledge of software applications:  word processing, spreadsheet, and database.
  • Strong communication skills, both oral and written.
  • Demonstrated leadership skills.
  • Strong organization skills.

 

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS/WORK ENVIRONMENT:

Physical requirements: Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating instructions, and policy manuals.  Ability to write reports and correspondence.  The ability to clearly and concisely exchange/receive ideas, facts and or technical information with others. The employee is required to use hands to handle or feel and reach with hands and arms.  The employee is occasionally required to stand and walk.  The employee may occasionally lift and/or move up to 10 pounds.  The employee will occasionally need to operate a motor vehicle.  Work environment:  School and out-of-school time program.
