THRIFT STORE LOCATION: 

2054 State Road 436, Winter Park, FL 32792

Job Summary: Responsible for sorting and processing donations as well as maintaining thrift store appearance at all times particularly the physical condition, safety, and cleanliness; to include daily custodial and light furniture loading/moving.

 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities: Include the following, other duties may be assigned.

  • Price, sort and process donations

  • Unload vehicles and accept incoming donations

  • Assist customers with loading purchased furniture into their vehicle

  • Stock and organize shelves with new inventory

  • Place donated clothing in designated area for sorting; properly hang up clothes and ensure dressing rooms are neat and orderly

  • Provide customers with tax donation receipts

  • Examine and conduct quality inspection of donated goods and place in appropriate containers for sale or salvage

  • Help maintain clean and well organized reception, presort and processing area

  • Performs custodial tasks, such as, cleaning and emptying waste receptacles in large dumpster in back of store.

  • Clean, sanitize and restock bathrooms daily (possibly more than once per day depending on activities). Clean countertops, floor and stock paper items. 

  • Sweep, mop, and vacuum floors each evening

  • Keep small open kitchen area clean and sanitized

  • Assist with intake of customer donations at back door

  • Clean donated housewares to prepare for pricing by staff

Relationships

Internal: Maintains close, daily contact with thrift store staff and supervisor to receive/provide information. 
External: Maintain good contact with the general public as necessary. 

Skills/Knowledge Required

  • High School diploma or GED

  • At least one year of retail experience

  • Must be able to organize and prioritize workload to ensure all projects are completed

  • Ability to independently carry out assignments to completion. 

  • Ability to recognize quality merchandise and effectively seek guidance on pricing from management.

  • Must be detailed orientated and have solid organizational skills

  • Good verbal and written communication skills

  • Must be customer service oriented

  • Professional work ethic and the ability to interpret a variety of instructions in written, oral or diagram form

  • Must be able to work in a fast-paced environment and work with other employees to ensure a healthy and productive work environment

  • Follow all aspects of safety guidelines, store policies and procedures ensuring all issues are corrected or communicated to management

  • Valid driver's license and good driving record

  • Bilingual Spanish/English a plus


Physical Requirements / Work Environment

Physical requirements: Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in oral, written, diagram or schedule form. While performing duties of this job, it is required to use hands to handle and feel and to talk or hear. The employee is frequently required to stand, walk, reach with arms and hands, climb or balance, and stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl. The employee must be able to stand for prolonged periods of time as well as be able to bend and lift continuously. The employee is occasionally required to sit. The employee must regularly lift and or move up to 30 pounds, frequently lift and or move up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision.
